The world of The End of the Line

The Queen's Forest

The Queen's Forest is an incredibly expansive forest, and it is where you, the Conductor, live. Even viewing out from high points, the forest stretches as far as the eye can see, leading many to believe that there is no end to the forest.

Within this forest, its people tend to confine themselves into walled cities for protection. The forest is no safe place, filled with ever-expanding White Rot, monsters created from the White Rot, bandits, and other threats. The White Rot expands day by day, reducing the amount of pure forest left, making the land completely uninhabitable.

The White Rot

A strange white substance grows over the vegetation of this vast forest, conquering over the land and mutating some of its afflicted.

The white rot is an ailment slowly taking over the forest, much to the dismay of Melka. Can anything be done to stop its violent spread?

Hope's End

Hope's End is where you, the Conductor, live and where the journey begins. Confined in these walls while the White Rot continues to expand and hope is at its minimum, it is incredibly suffocating.

In the past, following the broadcast urging people to travel to the End of the Line, many people of Hope's End readied to set out. These people are known as Railors, and among them were the Conductor's parents. It has been years since the Railors have left, however, and no news nor Railor has returned.

Hope's End Residential District

The residential district of Hope's End seems the liveliest of all of its areas, but even here you can see the diminishing life of Hope's End.

Hope's End Train Station

A once filled train station, the last trains of Hope's End have already left. This building is where many Railors said their last goodbyes to the people of Hope's End before leaving, never to be seen again.

Hope's End Training Grounds

The training grounds are where the Hope's End Scavengers train. Under Kora's ruthless training, the Scavengers keep Hope's End running with their different divisions.

THE HOPE'S END SCAVENGERS

The Hope's End Scavengers are effectively the military force of Hope's End, doing their part to keep the city safe. It is compromised of 4 different groups, each group led by a different person, though Kora leads the group as a whole.

As you leave towards the End of the Line, many of the Scavengers from these groups below will join you. Their different roles in their home will aid you in your travels towards the end.

"FOR SURVIVAL"

THE SENTINELS

The Sentinels leave the safety of Hope's End's walls in order to hunt game and defeat bandits. Due to the nature of this work, the Sentinels are a very small group, but their members are truly elite.

The logo of the Reclaimers. A racoon head is visible in a somewhat hexagon-shaped object. The logo is blue, and streetlights are shown on the side of the logo.

"TO REBUILD TOMORROW"

THE RECLAIMERS

The Reclaimers focus on exploring the West End, the ruins of a large city just beyond Hope's End's west walls. Their combat training is minimal compared to others, as they instead focus on fleeing, hiding, and using the ruined landscape to their advantage to avoid potential threats.

The logo of the Watchers. A beaver head is visible in a somewhat hexagon-shaped object. The logo is green, and arrows and a tower are spread across the sides of the logo.

"FOR A SAFE HOME"

THE WATCHERS

The Watchers build, maintain, and guard Hope's End's walls from attackers. In addition they lay traps and other defenses in the surrounding forest. They stand guard on the walls keeping watch over both Reclaimers in the ruined city and the Sentinels in the forest.

The logo of the Seekers. A phoenix flying upwards as the tail diverges into a railroad.

"TO FIND HOPE"

THE SEEKERS

The Seekers were a special group in Hope's End, being the Railors who would set out for the End of the Line. This group is now effectively extinct, however, as the last group of Railors left a long time ago.

Now that the Conductor is preparing to travel towards the End of the Line, the Seekers will be revived in their name.
